Lighting Gels are used to colour light sources for effect or colour correction to/from daylight to tungsten and visa-versa.
The swatch opposite is from Lee Filters so photographers can select colours for a particular job.
Gel is purchased in 4 foot widths and comes on rolls so you can get as much or as little as you need. Minimum purchase is 1 or 2 feet depending on supplier.
Gels can add vivid effects to your images or correct white balance.
They open the door to a more creative image and can help set mood for the shot.
Gel is cut for the specific light or purposed that is required. EG: a scrim frame.
